We already know that ALP Candidate Eustace "T-Co" Lake is a tax cheat and a dead beat dad. Now, new documents have come to light that expose Eustace Lake as a debtor as well.
This man has a real problem with meeting his obligations. First, we find out that he didn't pay over US$30,000 in taxes. Then, we find out that he didn't even pay child support to his own child. Now, we're finding out he owes another US$10,000 in unpaid attorney's fees.
This is the man who the ALP selected to run in Rural South. It not only reflects poorly on the character of Eustace "T-Co" Lake, but, it also reflects terribly on the character of the ALP Leadership. The ALP had an opportunity to select someone like Tanny Rose for the seat. But, the ALP passed over Tanny in favour of a tax cheating dead beat dad debtor!
It's no wonder that Asot Michael, Gaston Browne and Lester Bird chose a man like Eustace Lake to run in that constituency. Birds of a feather flock together.

On Tuesday night, electricity was in the air when the UPP unveiled our 2009 Manifesto, Defending the Nation! The tightly packed crowd overflowed from Justice Square onto Redcliffe and Temple Streets. They came not because some foreign musical act was playing, but, because they were hungry for ideas: a realistic vision for moving Antigua & Barbuda forward.
The people cheered wildly when the UPP Government unveiled Defending the Nation and the Power to the People initiative that is going to put ownership over state corporations into the hands of thousands of Antiguans and Barbudans.
Under the next UPP Government, you'll be able to benefit from the profits of these corporations and have a say in their governance. Of course, if necessary, the government will still be able to safeguard the national interest through regulation. What Power to the People does is give you the opportunity to profit and have a say when it comes to key companies that serve our economy. This policy truly puts the power in your hands.

The cover of the ALP's manifesto speaks volumes about it's content:

These people are worried, sad and scared. They should be.
The last ALP Government couldn't pay pensioners on time. The last ALP Government couldn't meet their obligations to pay civil servants. The last ALP Government "lost" EC$120 million of your money from the Medical Benefits Scheme. And, the last ALP Government bowed prostrate before their money man Allen Stanford.
Yesterday, the ALP unveiled their Agenda for Bankruptcy. Their plan is to drastically cut the revenue government takes in and drastically increase spending. It's voodoo economics that would put our country into massive debt and make us poorer than Haiti.
The voodoo in the ALP's Agenda for Bankruptcy is dangerous. It's no wonder the people on the cover of their manifesto are so scared. The ALP's voodoo will make all of us suffer.
With the ALP's Uncle Stan - the man they brought here and recommended for knighthood - in the custody of American authorities for allegedly stealing US$9 billion, who is the ALP's new mystery money man and what does he want from us in return?
There's no such thing as free money. So, when the ALP boasts in their manifesto, the Agenda for Bankruptcy, that they will bring in $500 million a year in new investments, we must ask who the mystery money man is and how much of our land, our treasure and our patrimony he will demand in return.
The ALP has put a 'for sale' sign on this country before. They have a long history of selling our land at peppercorn prices to foreign billionaires like Allen Stanford and to their own corrupt government ministers. They make it clear in their Agenda for Bankruptcy that they're planning to do it again.
Beware Antiguans and Barbudans. The ALP manifesto suggests that they plan to bow prostrate at the knees of another shady foreign money man who wants our land and our patrimony. It's up to us to defend our nation by re-electing the UPP.
The incompetent ALP has yet to publish their manifesto on their website, so, we decided to make it available to you right here on uppantigua.com. Enjoy:

Today's Observer editorial praised the UPP's 2009 Manifesto, Defending the Nation, and also the UPP's accomplishments over the last 5 years. The Observer opines:
As manifestos go, it cannot be said that the document released Tuesday night by the ruling United Progressive Party has not lived up to expectations. It has the look, sound and feel of the one produced in 2004 and many of its plans and policies are those the party has pursued for the past five years.
Even the most rabid critic would have to admit that, by and large, the UPP government has accomplished a significant portion of what ti promised the electorate when it came to power.
That's the difference between the ALP and the UPP. We say what we mean and do what we say. As the Observer goes on to point out, we're in tough economic times. We need a government who knows how to pay civil servants on time and who doesn't lose EC$120 million from the Medical Benefits scheme.
Defending the Nation is a visionary document. It gives power to the people by giving you the opportunity to own and profit from state owned corporations. No longer will politicians control these companies - you will control them. This, combined with a new airport terminal, a Caribbean Festival Park, improved roads and infrastructure and a comprehensive plan to combat crime are hallmarks of our comprehensive and visionary manifesto.
A letter in today's Observer agrees:
Baldwin Spencer and his team have demonstrated what good governance is all about. Power to the people.
These measures outlined in the document released Tuesday night are not only measurable but realistic.
Contrast our manifesto with the ALP's and the choice is clear. They offer satanic attacks on our clergy, violent tribalism and blood in the streets. We offer a visionary plan that puts power in the hands of people. The choice is clear.
The Electoral Commission sent out a release today highlighting some very important deadlines. Read:
The Antigua & Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) said the deadline to make a request for a replacement Elector Identification Card has been set for 6pm on Friday, 6 March, 2009.
A statement from the Commission said after this deadline no applications will be accepted for a replacement Voter ID or a Special Identification Card.
The Commission has also set Tuesday, 10 March, 2009 at 6pm as the deadline for collection of all replacement Voter ID cards.
Registered electors are reminded that replacement cards are to be collected at the Commission’s head office on the Queen Elizabeth Highway.
Persons newly registered up to December 31, 2008 and persons who have yet to collect their Voters ID dating back to 2003 can collect their cards at the Registration Units in the 17 constituencies up to Wednesday, March 11, 2009, the day before Polling Day.
