Chanlah Codrington

All Saints West

Chanlah Codrington represents the All Saints West constituency and serves as the Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives. He also serves as Chairman of the Development Control Authority, and he serves on the Public Accounts Committee.

Mr. Codrington was born on 10 January, 1958 in the village of Sea View Farm. He attended the Sea View Farm Primary School and the Antigua Grammar School. He obtained GCE passes in Physics, Mathematics, English, Biology and Spanish and, has acquired an advanced level certificate in law from the Cambridge University. He also acquired a Bachelor of Laws (LLB / distance learning) from Holborn College / Woolverhampton University in the United Kingdom. Mr. Codrington currently serves as the local representative for Holborn College.
In his professional life, he worked for 28 years at the Caribbean Relay Station as a senior technician.

He is married to Delora Davis Codrington also of Sea View Farm. They have four children: Chanlah Codrington, 27, Chandora Codrington, 23, Chante Codrington, 21, and Chandera Codrington, 11. He has special interests in sports, including lawn tennis.

Mr. Codrington is a former member of the Optimist Club of Wadadli. He is also involved in the Health for the Children Foundation where he plays in a band every other Saturday at the corner of Redcliffe Street and Corn Alley to raise money for children with terminal illnesses. As an accomplished singer, he is also an active member of the Men's Chorus.

Getting the Job Done in All Saints West

  • Established a fresh water fish farm
  • Fenced and resurfaced the Sea View Farm football field for First Division Football.
  • Opened Community Computer Access Centres at the Sea View Farm Primary School and at the Empowerment Centre in All Saints Village. Computer classes are held nightly for residents.
  • School Meals Programme initiated at the Sea View Farm and Freeman's Village primary schools.
  • Roads resurfaced in Sea View Farm, All Saints Main Road, Buckley's Main Road, Bellevue Estates and Freeman's Village.
  • Resurfaced the basketball court, football field and school complex and replaced wiring for flood lights at the facility in Buckleys
  • Began fencing the school and sporting complex at Buckleys
  • Engaged in a constituency wide cleaning programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
  • Completed a library at the UPP All Saints West Branch Office
  • Facilitated the establishment of a vibrant community watch programme.

A Plan for All Saints West

  • Expand the fish farm for local and possible export to regional markets
  • Establish the All Saints West Construction Company to acquire government contracts, thus reducing unemployment.
  • Establish an Employment Agency to work in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour
  • Establish Centre for the elderly
  • Develop the All Saints West Organization to the level of a Co-Operative where vibrant entrepreneurial activity can flourish
  • Establish a recording studio for aspiring and up-and-coming musicians
  • Set up the All Saints West Musical band
  • Host Electrical, Arc Welding, and Law classes. Other classes will be added depending on demand and ability to supply
