John Maginley was born on the 13th January 1960 and grew up in Coolidge. He attended the Ms. Robinson School, St. Michael's School and The Princess Margaret Secondary School in Antigua, The Lodge School in Barbados, the Palm Beach Junior College in Florida, and The Louisiana Technical Institute in Ruston, Louisiana, USA. He achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance at the Louisiana Technical Institute and graduated in 1981.
He represents the people of St. John’s Rural North, and serves as the Minister of Health. His ministerial portfolio includes Community Health Services, Hospitals, the Medical Benefits Scheme, National Solid Waste Management Authority, the Central Board of Heath, and Health Information.
He has been a member of the UPP Rural North constituency branch since 1991. He became the UPP Candidate for St John’s Rural North in 1997. He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Antigua (2000-2001) and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for his service to the Community.
An avid cricketer, John Maginley was the First Vice President of the Antigua Cricket Association, and served as Chairman of the Board of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of World Cup Cricket Antigua Inc.
John Maginley is also an accomplished tennis player, having been appointed Captain and representative of Antigua and Barbuda Davis Cup Team. He is a certified Tennis Professional and has Pro 1 certification from the United States Professional Tennis Association.
He is the father of two children, Jody and Aliah.
