PM Promises Short, Quick and Sweet Election at Mammoth Rally
Close to ten thousand UPP supporters converged on the King George V grounds on Sunday, after joining the countries leader Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer and other UPP candidates on the Big Blue Wave Zone Two whistle stop.
The number of supporters grew by the minute as the blue wave moved off from the Jennings primary school, before traveling through the constituencies of St. Mary's North, St. John's Rural South, St. John's City South and through the constituency of St. John's Rural West.
The street side was also lined with supporters, and it was amazing the number of people that honked and gave the thumbs up, as the Big Blue Wave drove through the various villages.
At one point persons looked awe-struck at the long line of vehicles that stretched from Golden Grove, to Cooks Hill, into Greenbay, Five Islands and onto Perry Bay road.
Addressing the crowd at the rally in King George grounds PM Spencer told the masses, that the parliament of Antigua and Barbuda stands dissolved as of February 9th.
“The first step that has to be taken to give you what you want is to dissolve parliament. And brothers and sisters, I can announce to you that the parliament of Antigua and Barbuda stands dissolved….We’re not going to delay it. We’re going to make it short, quick and sweet.” The Prime Minister said.
Elections must be held within three months after the dissolution of parliament.
The crowd burst into enthusiastic applause and cheered when the Prime Minister declared, he has moved the date from his side pocket to his breast pocket and that Justice Day is very near.
“Should we return to a bunch of individuals and reprobates that have ripped off this country? They are not about country they are about saving their own necks.
They know time is closing in on them. I don’t have millions of dollars given to me by any investor. I am not supported by any investor…I am not for sale. Nobody can buy your humble servant. I don’t care how rich they are.” The PM said.
The PM also denounced the acts of vandalism and violence that have been plaguing the UPP campaign trail.
Referring to the ALP PM Spencer continued, “They cannot win an election the democratic way…They want to stop this justice train…no matter what you do these destabilizing tactics will not work. They want to create confusion they want a war.”
