Nathaniel Paddy James Should Resign
Electoral Commissioner Nathaniel Paddy James has shown that he is neither impartial nor independent and should resign from the commission.
On February 9th, James openly via the airwaves on Observer Radio AM revealed to the nation that he is not fit to be a member of the electoral commission.
James, who during the interview wore the hat of the vice-chairman of the electoral commission, rather than his "ALP identification card defender" status made a number of public statements on observer radio that reinforces what is generally believed in this state that is:
James has zero credibility as a member of the Electoral Commission.
He clearly violated the provisions of the law that set up the commission that requires him to be independent and impartial and free from the directives of any political party.
On more than one occasion James made statements that warrant only one conclusion, that his actions are based on the directives of the ALP.
In a broadcast on the opposition hate radio, the member of City West Gaston Browne chided James, with respect to statements made regarding the moving of voters by the Electoral Commission.
During the banter among Browne, James and the political leader Lester Bird, the vice chairman was also reminded that he was not an authority unto himself since the "Labour Party had given him certain instructions," to carry-out as part of a mandate.
It was at which time that James admitted "I know I am not an authority to myself." In other words, James knew that he had to act on the dictates of the ALP.
However, today James is claiming to be impartial which forces the question: Is this the same James who was a regular feature on fire and steel for more than four years now claiming to be 'impartial'?
Ironically, three weeks ago, James appeared at the ALP press conference zealously defending the identification card system that the Labour Party brought ostensibly to make fake identification cards.
James is now stating he is not partisan, this is akin to a drunkard saying he is not drunk.
