Respecting The Rights And Dignity Of Persons With Disabilities

Putting People First is all embracing. No group is more deserving of special assistance than persons with disabilities.

In the second term, the UPP will enact enabling legislation to mandate equal rights in living and at the workplace for persons with disabilities.

This is in keeping with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to which Antigua & Barbuda became a signatory on March 30, 2007.

A UPP Government will:

• Continue the annual grant of $25,000 to the Association of Persons with Disabilities
• Continue the $200 monthly payment to purchase food and personal items under the People’s Benefit Programme
• Maintain the Special Fund of $250,000 to finance the various activities, equipment and services of the Antigua & Barbuda Association of Persons with Disabilities.
